We're working with an established institutional broker-dealer that is seeking an experienced Risk Manager to lead its Institutional Trading and Prime Services Risk Management program. This role will have coverage of all areas of market, counterparty and systematic risk working closely with the Head of Risk.
The firm are based in Manhattan with a 5 day on-site working policy, remote work is not offered for this position.
Key responsibilities
- Provide risk oversight across global institutional trading and prime brokerage activities, with a focus on market, counterparty credit and operational risk.
- Manage and analyze daily client portfolio exposures, margin requirements and risk limits, escalating material or emerging risks to senior management.
- Conduct pre-trade and ongoing counterparty credit analysis, stress testing and exposure assessments across cash equities, options, futures and financing transactions.
- Develop and enhance quantitative risk methodologies, including VaR, margin models and regulatory bilateral margin requirements.
- Monitor operational risk events, including trade breaks and settlement fails, partnering with Operations to drive timely resolution.
- Ensure adherence to the firm's global risk framework, policies and procedures while supporting evolving regulatory and market structure requirements.
- Lead enhancements to risk management tools, analytics and technology, including collaboration with third-party vendors.
- Support client onboarding by assessing portfolios, trading strategies and overall risk exposure, while participating in prospective client pitches and ongoing risk discussions.
- Coordinate governance relating to the Market Access Rule, including relevant working groups, committees and product-level oversight.
Candidate profile
- At least 5 years of broker-dealer risk management experience
- Strong knowledge of US & International Equities alongside Derivative products
- Proficiency with MS Excel, SQL, Bloomberg and trading systems experience desired.
- Experience with SEC 15c3-5 Market Access Rule
- Active Series 7, 63 and 24 licences preferred
- Bachelor’s degree required; an advanced degree is advantageous.
