Job summary

Benton County Health Services seeks a Director to oversee the Health Services-wide Risk Management and Quality Improvement Program. You will lead risk management, patient safety, grievance response, and regulatory readiness across divisions and sites, establishing standards and accountability for action and outcomes.

In this role you will supervise population health functions and drive performance improvement to enhance patient outcomes and access.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a field related to the assignment.
  • 5 years of progressively responsible professional experience in area of assignment, including at least 2 years of supervisory experience.
  • Equivalency permitted: education and experience may substitute one another; 6 months of work experience required for equivalency.

Responsibilities

  • Directs risk management, patient safety, and quality improvement programs across divisions and service sites.
  • Establishes standards, policies, workflows, and accountability for risk identification, safety events, corrective action, and quality performance.
  • Supervises population health and patient/community engagement functions to support outcomes and access.

Job description

JOB SUMMARY

Directs the Health Services-wide Risk Management and Quality Improvement Program across divisions, programs, and service sites to reduce patient safety events, mitigate organizational risk, and improve clinical, operational, and service outcomes for Health Services patients, clients, and community members. This position provides Health Services-wide program direction for risk management, patient safety, grievance response, quality infrastructure, performance improvement, and regulatory readiness. The position establishes standards, policies, workflows, and accountability mechanisms that govern how Health Services programs identify risk, respond to safety events, implement corrective action, and improve quality performance. Supervises population health and patient/community engagement functions that directly support patient outcomes and access.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

The following minimum qualifications are REQUIRED for this position:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a field related to area of assignment; AND
  • 5 years of progressively responsible professional experience in area of assignment, including at least 2 years of supervisory experience.

An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted. Applicants must have at least 6 months of work experience to receive equivalency.

Special Requirements
  • Hiring is contingent upon the successful completion of a background check.
  • Valid Oregon driver's license or the ability to obtain.
  • This position requires driving and may require use of a personal vehicle.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Supervisory experience required; experience leading cross-functional improvement work.
  • Bachelor’s degree required (nursing, public health, healthcare administration, quality, or related field).
  • Demonstrated experience in healthcare risk management and quality improvement (FQHC/community health experience strongly preferred).
  • Experience with electronic health records and incident reporting/quality reporting systems required.
  • Knowledge of healthcare regulations and standards relevant to risk, patient safety, and quality improvement (e.g., HRSA expectations, HIPAA collaboration, etc.).
  • Preferred certifications: CPHQ and/or CPHRM (or ability to obtain within a defined timeframe)
  • Excellent change-management and communication skills (written, oral, and presentation skills)
  • Must possess, or obtain within 30 days of hire, a valid Oregon driver’s license.
  • Must pass a criminal history background investigation.
