Job summary

Mortenson is seeking a Risk Manager to oversee the corporate insurance program, renewals, and broker/insurer interactions. You will lead policy reviews for projects and build relationships with brokers and carrier partners.

In this role, you’ll manage a risk management team, analyze risks, price appropriately, and support project pursuits. Strong collaboration, detail orientation, and confidentiality are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
• Minimum five years’ experience in risk management or insurance industry.
• Contract review and negotiation experience.
• Experience with a corporate insurance program including Casualty, Professional, Pollution and Builder’s Risk/Property insurance.
• Insurance industry designations (CPCU, CRIS, CIC, ARM etc.) preferred.
• Construction industry knowledge preferred.
• Ability to work in a cross-functional, collaborative, team based environment.
• Proficiency in all software offerings in Microsoft Office 365.
• Proficient in RMIS programs and database.
• Extremely well organized and strong attention to detail.
• Strong math and financial analysis skills.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Positive, professional attitude and excellent customer service skills.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.

Job description

SUMMARY

Mortenson is currently seeking aRisk Managerto assist with overall management of a comprehensive corporate insurance program along with corporate risk management duties with a concentration on risk identification, risk transfer, and risk retention techniques.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Maintain primary responsibility for managing the corporate insurance program, renewal process, and all other interaction between our brokers and insurers
• Lead the review and placement of insurance policies on a project specific basis
• Develop and maintain external relationships with insurance brokers and insurance carrier partners
• Assist business leaders in the review and negotiation of agreements including owner agreements, design agreements, subcontracts, leases etc.
• Management and oversight of a corporate risk management team providing daily project support for operating groups
• Oversee the risk analysis, accurate pricing, and placement of insurance coverage for all new project pursuits
• Provide support to drive corporate initiatives and to facilitate the risk management process
• Effectively work and build relationships with those of diverse backgrounds and organizational levels
• Lead team members by example, offer effective coaching and feedback, and effectively manage performance.

The base pay range for this role is $105,300 - $158,000. (Actual range is higher for the following office locations: Denver, CO and Chicago, IL – 5%, Seattle, WA, and Portland, OR – 10%, Washington, D.C. – 12.5%).

Base pay is positioned within the range based on several factors including an individual’s knowledge, skills, and experience, with consideration given to internal equity. This position is eligible for Mortenson's incentive plan.
