Urschel, a 100% employee-owned company, is seeking a Risk Engineer to evaluate machine designs for compliance with applicable safety standards and industry regulations, and to develop solutions that minimize or eliminate operator risk. This role provides technical leadership focused on regulatory compliance, hazard identification, risk assessment and cost‑effective risk management for Urschel customers. This onsite position reports to the Electrical Engineering Manager and is based at our corporate Headquarters in Chesterton, Indiana.
The qualified candidate will possess, at a minimum, a bachelor’s degree in Civil, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering and three or more years of experience working in a manufacturing setting. Experience in the Food Industry and knowledge of food processing machines preferred. Prior experience performing risk assessments on machines preferred. Knowledge of ANSI, OSHA, ISO, NFPA, EN, and UL standards pertaining to machine guarding and electrical conformance is preferred. Must possess the ability to review and analyze engineering drawings and reports and the ability to communicate effectively with customers. Experience with CE compliance a plus.
