Job summary

Truist Financial Corporation seeks an experienced leader to oversee a team delivering risk reporting, data analytics, and BI services within the Non-Financial Risk Insights & Analytics group. You will drive KRIs, loss data analyses, and governance while partnering with Technology and Data Operations to modernize processes.

You will recruit and develop analysts, set strategic direction, and ensure regulatory-ready analytics across risk domains, supporting Truist and related stakeholders.

Job Description

Oversee team of analysts in the delivery of complex and comprehensive risk reporting, data, business intelligence, and related services. This role is aligned to the Non-Financial Risk Insights & Analytics team and is accountable for building out and leading operational risk domain analytics, including loss and event data analysis, control and issue analytics, and Key Risk Indicators (KRIs) and related thresholds/limits. The leader will translate operational risk concepts into measurable, data-driven insight for key stakeholders; partner with Technology and Data Operations to modernize and automate manual KRI and reporting processes; and ensure analytics are governed, well-controlled, and audit/regulatory ready. As a leader of people, this role recruits, develops, and manages a team of analysts and analytics teammates, setting direction and building capability across the operational risk domain. Role is primarily aligned to support stakeholders, needs, and initiatives within the Risk Management Organization, but can also support other areas of Truist.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provide leadership and direction for multiple teams to ensure timely and accurate execution of reports, analyses, data, system-related or operational tasks.
  • Ensure that key departmental processes are documented and that appropriate controls are in place.
  • Develop consultative relationships with senior leaders within the Risk Management Organization and other areas of Truist. Engage with stakeholders to identify business objectives and scope solution requirements.
  • Plan and manage complex projects, such as development of new or modified reporting in response to process, system, regulatory, or organizational changes.
  • Recruit, train, develop and retain top quality talent.
  • Set the direction for multiple teams and communicate individual and team priorities. Manage deliverables for the team against expected results with a focus on operational and tactical activities as well as strategic considerations.
  • Identify and resolve technical, operational, risk management, business, and organizational challenges.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
  • 12+ years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Broad and in-depth knowledge within own professional discipline and other related disciplines. Sound and comprehensive understanding of business and organizational strategies and processes.
  • Knowledge of the external environment, including Truist's competition, regulatory requirements and trends, and the strategies employed to continually meet the demands of clients and regulators.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to interpret and explain complex information to a range of audiences. Ability to influence others to adopt a new perspective and handle interpersonal issues with tact and diplomacy.
  • Ability to exercise judgment and sophisticated skills in solving unique and highly complex technical, operational, and organizational challenges in the context of business objectives and priorities.
  • Ability to lead and manage performance of a team or multiple teams against a set of financial and operational objectives.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Graduate degree in related field
  • 15 years of related experience
  • Previous experience in banking, with specific emphasis on operational risk analytics, reporting, business intelligence, systems, technology, data, risk, compliance or related areas
  • Relevant professional or technical certifications
  • Advanced skills in data wrangling, data engineering, data science, or related areas. Experience with languages and tools such as Python, SQL, SAS, Power BI, Snowflake, etc.
  • Demonstrated experience delivering operational risk analytics, including operational loss and event analysis, RCSA/control and issue analytics, scenario analysis, and emerging risk identification, with the ability to convert risk taxonomy and framework concepts into measurable analytics
  • Hands‑on experience managing Key Risk Indicators (KRIs), including metric definition, thresholds/limits and breach escalation, data sourcing and lineage, and documented data quality and control standards
  • Experience with risk measurement and reporting packages for senior executives, Board and Committee audiences, and regulators or internal audit, with a track record of moving manual reporting to automated, governed solutions
  • Proven people leadership experience, including leading analysts and/or other managers, building analytics talent and capability, managing capacity across competing BAU and strategic priorities, and developing a domain-aligned team operating model
