Job summary

Utilities One in Moorestown, NJ, seeks a Risk Compliance Manager to lead enterprise risk management, insurance programs, and regulatory compliance across the organization. You will identify risks, design ERM frameworks, manage claims, work with insurers, and develop business continuity plans.

The role reports to the Governance & Administration department and requires 5+ years of relevant experience and CRM/ARM/FRM certifications.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Risk Management, Finance, Business Administration, Law, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of direct experience in corporate risk management, insurance management, or compliance.
  • CRM/ARM/FRM certifications preferred.
  • Strong analytical skills to spot trends in claims data and compliance gaps.

Responsibilities

  • Identify Risks: Conduct comprehensive risk assessments covering financial, operational, strategic, and safety hazards.
  • Build Frameworks: Design, implement, and maintain the organization’s enterprise risk management (ERM) policies and protocols.
  • Quantify Impact: Analyze the potential financial and operational impact of identified risks to prioritize mitigation efforts.
  • Manage Claims: Oversee end-to-end management of corporate claims across property, general and third-party liability, workers’ comp, and cyber incidents.
  • Partner with Insurers: Liaise with brokers, adjusters, and legal counsel to negotiate coverage and settle claims.
  • Reduce Losses: Analyze claim trends to identify root causes and proactive loss-control programs.
  • Monitor Regulations: Ensure operations comply with local, state, and federal laws and industry regulations.
  • Report to Leadership: Prepare risk reports for executive leadership and the Board.
  • Business Continuity: Develop, test, and update disaster recovery and continuity plans.
  • Train Employees: Design risk awareness, safety, and compliance training for staff.

The Risk Manager is responsible for identifying, analyzing, and mitigating internal and external risks that could threaten the organization's financial stability, legal standing, or operational integrity. This role involves designing and implementing risk management strategies, managing corporate insurance and claims, and fostering a culture of compliance and safety across all divisions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Identify Risks: Conduct comprehensive risk assessments covering financial, operational, strategic, and safety hazards.
  • Build Frameworks: Design, implement, and maintain the organization’s enterprise risk management (ERM) policies and protocols.
  • Quantify Impact: Analyze the potential financial and operational impact of identified risks to prioritize mitigation efforts.
  • Manage Claims: Oversee the end-to-end management of corporate claims, including property damage, general and third-party liability, commercial motor vehicle and fleet claims, workers’ compensation and employee injury claims, contractual claims, and cyber, privacy, and fraud incidents.
  • Partner with Insurers: Act as the primary liaison with insurance brokers, adjusters, and legal counsel to negotiate coverage and settle claims.
  • Reduce Losses: Analyze claim trends to identify root causes and implement proactive loss-control programs.
  • Monitor Regulations: Ensure company operations comply with all local, state, and federal laws and industry regulations.
  • Report to Leadership: Prepare detailed risk reports and presentations for executive leadership and the Board of Directors.
  • Business Continuity: Develop, test, and update disaster recovery and business continuity plans.
  • Train Employees: Design and deliver risk awareness, safety, and compliance training programs for staff.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
  • Degree: Bachelor’s degree in Risk Management, Finance, Business Administration, Law, or a related field.
  • Experience: 5+ years of direct experience in corporate risk management, insurance management, or compliance.
  • Credentials: Professional certifications such as Certified Risk Manager (CRM), Associate in Risk Management (ARM), or Financial Risk Manager (FRM) are highly preferred.
  • Technical Expertise: Deep understanding of commercial insurance structures, claims management processes, and legal frameworks.
  • Analytical Skills: Advanced data analysis skills to spot trends in claims data, financial risks, or compliance gaps.
  • Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills to explain complex risk concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Tools: Proficiency with Risk Management Information Systems (RMIS) and data analysis tools.
