Who You Are
  • You are pursuing a bachelor’s degree at an accredited college/university, majoring in Finance, Economics, Data Science & Analytics, Artificial Intelligence, Management Information System, Business Management and Administration, Mathematics, and Computer Science, with an expected graduation date between December 2027 and Summer 2028
  • You have a minimum GPA of 3.0
  • You have some knowledge of risk and compliance principles, usually acquired through coursework or prior related experience, and are curious to learn more
  • You are curious about financial markets and interested in learning more about the financial services industry markets, business operations, administration, data, and execution of a globally systemic important bank.
  • You have proven analytical, data interpretation, problem-solving, critical and strategic thinking skills through coursework and/or previous internship experience
  • You have demonstrated leadership and teamwork through projects and extracurricular involvement
  • Strong verbal and written communication, results driven based on time sensitive deliverables, time management skills
What You’ll Do

As an intern at Northern Trust, you will have the opportunity to build relevant skills, work on meaningful projects, and participate in a collaborative program designed to support your early career development. You will work directly with your team on day-to-day tasks while joining internship program events to develop new skills, network with senior leaders, and connect with fellow interns in the program. Through hands‑on experience, meaningful project work, and exposure to a dynamic global business, you will begin to see how your interests can grow into a long‑term career at Northern Trust. A recruiter will work with you to determine the best team placement given your interests, skill set, and relevant experience.

WHAT YOU’LL GAIN
  • Complete, compile, and present high‑quality summaries of findings, insights, and recommendations in a concise and professional manner.
  • Analyze risk, control, and operational data to develop reporting, dashboards, and metrics that support risk monitoring and decision‑making.
  • Support Risk project teams in the implementation and enhancement of risk frameworks, controls, governance processes, and regulatory initiatives.
  • Leverage data analytics, artificial intelligence, automation, and emerging technologies to improve risk management processes and operational efficiency.
  • Partner with business, risk, and control stakeholders to identify process improvements and support enterprise risk objectives.
  • Develop professional skills related to an assigned area of Risk through project work, mentorship, and business unit engagement.

Salary Range

Salary range is $30.00 - $35.00 USD per hour.

Salary range is a good faith estimate of base pay. Northern Trust provides a comprehensive benefits package including retirement benefits (401k and pension), health and welfare benefits (medical, dental, vision, spending accounts and disability), paid time off, parental and caregiver leave, life & accident insurance, and other voluntary and well‑being benefits. Northern Trust also provides a discretionary bonus program that may include an equity component.
