Job description

Giggle Finance is a successful fintech company on a relentless mission to re‑engineer financial services for the underserved. We don’t just move fast; we execute, learn from our mistakes, tweak on the fly, and win. Our leadership team is small, data‑driven, and completely unburdened by corporate bureaucracy.

Today, over one‑half of the U.S. workforce earns income through gig work, self‑employment, or small businesses. We build technology that gives these entrepreneurs fast, transparent access to capital when they need it most.

We’re growing quickly because we make decisions quickly.

Our Risk team sits at the center of nearly every important decision the company makes—from underwriting and fraud prevention to portfolio strategy, pricing, experimentation, product development and marketing. If you enjoy solving difficult problems with data and seeing your work deployed into production almost immediately, you’ll love it here.

Who You Are

You Think Like (or are) a ScientistYou naturally break apart complicated problems, challenge assumptions, and search for the underlying truth hidden inside data. You are naturally inquisitive and curious – you approach every problem as an opportunity to learn something new – including your own personal and professional growth. You are not afraid to try something new, even if it doesn’t work out, for the sake of “science.” You either have financial services experience, or you don’t, and none of that matters… what actually matters is your ability to learn quickly and adapt to the market conditions, doing what it takes to get the job done. You are a self‑starter who can work independently but also thrives working in a collaborative environment. You want to teach us something, as much as you want to learn from us. We will get along if you can answer “yes” to many of the proceeding statements :)

AI Is Part of Your Daily Workflow

You use AI constantly.Whether you’re writing SQL, engineering features, building models, debugging code, or exploring new ideas, AI makes you dramatically more productive—not because it replaces your thinking, but because it amplifies it. You use Python, R, SQL, LLMs, modern ML frameworks…and these are all just tools in your toolbox. You are as enamored with bleeding edge technology as we are… and you wake up in the morning thinking about how you can use it to solve complex problems. If this sounds like you, then we want to talk!

You Thrive in Ambiguity and Own outcomes

Some people need perfectly defined requirements, you don’t. You can take an unclear business problem and can figure out how to structure it, test it, model it, and deliver an answer. In those situations where others may not completely understand, you are willing to work to lead the charge, and get everyone on board. You don’t wait to be “instructed…” you take control when you believe in something. You may go down a rabbit hole, but you come up on the other side with a solution that perhaps no one could’ve predicted. We love that!

You Can Explain Complex Ideas Simply

The best analysis in the world has little value if nobody understands it. You can present sophisticated statistical findings in a way that executives immediately understand and can confidently act upon. You think about thinking about things, so you can better articulate them to all audiences. Knowledge is not valuable if it only lives in your head… so you make sure it’s shared.

What You’ll Do
  • Partner directly with the Chief Risk Officer to solve some of the company’s highest‑impact analytical problems
  • Build predictive models that improve underwriting, fraud detection, pricing, acquisition, and portfolio performance
  • Use AI every day to accelerate research, automate analysis, and improve development speed
  • Design experiments, A/B tests, and statistical analyses that guide strategic decisions
  • Write production‑quality SQL and develop analytical solutions in Python and/or R, plus Snowflake
  • Transform large, messy datasets into actionable business intelligence (whether that be new datasets, new visualizations, or new models)
  • Build dashboards, executive reports, and analytical tools used across the company
  • Collaborate closely with Engineering, Product, Finance, Operations, and Marketing to turn ideas into production systems
  • Constantly ask “How can we make this decision better?”
What You’ve Done

Strong Analytical Foundation

Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics, Economics, Engineering, Psychology, Sociology, or another quantitative discipline.

Master’s degree is a plus.

We DON’T care about formal experience – if you are a self‑starter, interested in learning fintech, are passionate about data, AND you are analytical, the rest comes easy. So, even without formal fintech experience, we welcome your experience and can collaborate on applying it to our risk practice.
