Job summary

MetroPlusHealth is seeking a Risk Adjustment Medical Record Retrieval Specialist in New York to lead efforts in retrieving medical records for our risk adjustment program. You will build and maintain contacts with medical facilities and retrieval vendors to ensure accurate, timely access to records across EHR systems, remote drop-boxes, and digital fax.

You will organize records digitally, triage issues with facilities, and create plans for retrieval projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in health information administration or health information technology preferred.
• Three years of experience in health plan or medical provider/facility environment.

Responsibilities

• Establish and maintain contact with medical facilities to facilitate record retrieval.
• Create systems for categorizing and organizing medical records for digital storage.
• Plan retrieval projects with identified high-volume sites and vendors to meet goals.
• Access remote EHR systems, drop-boxes, and eFAX to retrieve and save records.
• Use HIT standards to identify proper chart types and valid encounters.
• Use data elements to validate provider visits and request corrections when needed.
• Coordinate transmission of records across partners ensuring documentation integrity.
• Analyze results with Excel or MySQL to inform future retrieval projects.
• Identify acceptable stand-alone documentation and evaluate supporting records for validity.
