Job summary

KPFF Consulting Engineers seeks a detail-oriented Structural Engineer in Training to join our Sacramento team. You will design, analyze, and oversee structural systems for diverse commercial, residential, and infrastructure projects, collaborating with architects and contractors to deliver safe, code-compliant solutions.

Requires a Civil/Structural degree, EIT, and 3+ years of experience, with proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, ETABS, and SAP2000.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering; Master’s preferred.
• EIT certification required.
• PE certification obtained or in progress.
• At least three years of relevant full-time experience in structural engineering design.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, ETABS and SAP2000.
• Knowledge of building codes, standards and construction practices.
• Strong analytical and written/verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively.

Responsibilities

• Perform structural analysis and design calculations.
• Develop detailed drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
• Conduct site assessments to identify structural requirements.
• Collaborate with architects, MEP engineers, and contractors.
• Review construction documents and submittals for compliance.
• Provide technical support during construction administration.
• Optimize structural designs for cost, sustainability, and constructability.
• Maintain organized, audit-ready project files.
• Stay updated with evolving codes and best practices.
