Job summary

Horrocks in Taylorsville, UT is seeking an Engineer-in-Training for Site Development to support civil design from concept through construction on a variety of private and public projects.

The role requires an EIT and 0-2 years of experience, with proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D and Microsoft Office. You will prepare site plans, calculations, cost estimates, and coordinate with contractors to ensure project success.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate or graduate degree in civil engineering.
• Engineer in Training (EIT) certificate.
• 0-2 years' experience with civil design including drainage, utility, roadway, and development design.
• Ability to take direction and work independently as well as collaborate with teams.
• Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D is a plus.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Suite.
• Strong verbal, written and presentation skills.
• Good technical writing skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare site, roadway, grading, drainage, water, and sewer plans using AutoCAD Civil 3D.
• Produce project deliverables including technical memoranda, design plans and specifications, and technical reports.
• Prepare supporting calculations, construction specifications, and permitting in various jurisdictions.
• Prepare construction cost models and engineer opinions of probable cost for projects.
• Design development and redevelopment projects for private clients.
• Construction observation and coordination with construction contractors.
