Job summary

Center for Coastal Studies in Provincetown, MA seeks a Right Whale Ecology Program Habitat Intern to participate in fieldwork and lab tasks supporting RWEP, including zooplankton sample processing and data entry.

The internship runs January 4, 2027 through May 28, 2027, averaging 40 hours per week with weekends and holidays, and may include research cruises. Housing is provided to interns.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in biological/environmental sciences preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and memorization skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Experience working on boats and ability to withstand long hours in harsh weather.
• Team player with willingness to learn field and lab methods.
• Able to work under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Identify marine mammals.
• Collect behavioral, environmental, and sightings data.
• Zooplankton collection and identification.
• Database entry and maintenance.
• Maintain vessel field equipment.
• Assist in photo-analysis and data processing.
