Job summary

MEI Industrial Solutions seeks a Rigging Supervisor in Massachusetts to coordinate labor and equipment for machinery relocation and securing operations, overseeing rigging crews on site to ensure safety and efficiency. You will estimate tools, materials, and labor, assign crews, supervise timecards, and mentor entry-level riggers.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years’ rigging experience; 2 years’ supervisory experience preferred.
• OSHA 30 training completed.
• Understand MEI safety concepts and PPE usage.
• Strong written and verbal communication.
• Self-directed with good time management.
• Proficient with Windows and MS Office; basic recordkeeping.

Responsibilities

• Plan and execute rigging work, coordinating labor and materials with safety and managers.
• Estimate tools, equipment, and labor and coordinate resources to prevent delays.
• Inspect rigging tools and equipment for wear or damage prior to use.
• Supervise crews, assign tasks, monitor attendance, and manage timecards.
• Train and mentor entry-level riggers and trainees.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Job description

Position Summary

The Rigging Supervisor will assist in the coordination of labor and necessary equipment or tools per job or job specifications and may deliver and/or operate specific equipment (powered and non-powered) necessary for the work. In conjunction with site or regional office leadership, the Rigging Supervisor will oversee rigging crews involved in delivering or retrieving equipment or materials necessary for machinery relocation or securing equipment to prevent movement.

Essential Job Duties And Responsibilities

• Assist with planning and executing rigging work, including the coordination of labor and materials and in conjunction with safety and managers, perform job walks and job hazard analyses.
• Accurately estimate tools, equipment, and labor needed for each job or job site requirements and coordinate resources so rigging crews can start or continue work without delay.
• Inspect tools and equipment used for rigging and reject items showing wear, thinning, cracks or potential failure points prior to issuing or approving for use.
• Demonstrate the proper use of specific equipment, as necessary. Ensure tools or equipment is returned / accounted for, clean, and ready for use.
• Assign rigging crews to various jobs, and oversee crew attendance, needed skill sets and talents, and ensure crews are dispersed for work or no work (as applicable) fairly and within Company or customer preferences and guidelines.
• Supervise crews to include directing work, issue corrective action or rewards and recognition. May review and/or approve crew timecards and requests for time off.
• Train and mentor entry-level riggers, Rigger Trainees, and others as needed.
• Perform all other duties as necessary or assigned.

Minimum Qualifications (Experience, Skills, And Education)

• High school diploma or equivalent necessary. A degree (Associates or Bachelors) in construction, project management, or related field helpful.
• Three (3) to five (5) years’ experience performing rigging work required; Two years’ of successful and/or progressive experience as a supervisor highly preferred.
• Successful completion of OSHA 30 training; keep current with training concepts as they relate to employee and job site safety.
• Understand and support MEI safety concepts and be able to instruct others accordingly - including the correct use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
• Solid and professional communication skills, both written and verbal. Practices active listening and critical thinking skills.
• Is self-directed and self-motivated; manages time well and encourages time efficiencies from others.
• Possesses intermediate knowledge of a Windows-based computer and knows or can quickly learn the necessary software; good understanding of Microsoft Office (including Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language, including the meaning and spelling of words; able to keep legible records and logs in English.

Physical Requirements And Working Conditions

This is physical, hands-on work. Must be able to perform General Physical Activities that require considerable use of arms, legs, and activities requiring moving the whole body such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, or crouching. May regularly lift items up to 50 pounds. Frequently uses senses involving sight, smell, touch, and auditory. May work off the ground at varying heights; must not be affected by flashing lights, noise, or moving machinery. May perform occasional work in a warehouse or non-temperature-controlled environment and/or outdoors over uneven terrain or with exposure to inclement weather.
