Job summary

Brown & Root Industrial Services is seeking a Rigging Technician in Texas to assemble rigging for lifting and moving equipment to construction projects. You will select cables, ropes, pulleys, winches, blocks and sheaves based on load size and weight.

You will follow safety rules, direct crane operators, tie knots, and set up braces and hoisting equipment. Growth opportunities exist within a supervised environment with established procedures.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required or preferred.
• Knowledge of concepts, practices, and procedures in the field.
• Follows instructions and established guidelines; supervised.
• Reports to supervisor or manager.

Responsibilities

• Loads, transports, unloads and assists in selecting cables, ropes, pulleys, winches, blocks and sheaves according to weight and size of load.
• Attaches pulley and blocks to fixed overhead structures with bolts and clamps.
• Attaches load with grappling devices to crane hook.
• Gives direction to crane operator or hoisting engineer to ensure safety using hand signals or radio/phone.
• Sets up braces and rigs hoisting equipment with hand tools and power wrenches.
• Has ability to tie various knots.
• Assembles and disassembles cranes.
• Splices rope and wire cables to make or repair slings or tackle.
• Directs workers engaged in hoisting of machinery and equipment.
• Performs minor maintenance or cleaning on tools and equipment.
• Observes all safety rules.
