REQUIREMENTS: ALL Applicants must be:

  • Additional Requirements for Craftworkers:
    • Must have own transportation to and from jobsite every work day (driver's license not required)
    • Must provide own hand tools (excluding power tools)
    • May be expected to travel where the project requires (multi-state opportunities)

Primary Function: Assemble rigging to lift and move equipment or materials on construction projects.

Typical Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Set up hoisting equipment for rising and placing structural steel members, setting equipment, processing pipe.
  • Select wire ropes, slings, shackles, or lifting devices according to weight and size of loads to be moved.
  • Attach pulley and blocks to fixed overhead structures such as beams, ceilings, with bolts and clamps.
  • Attach load with grappling devices such as loops, wires, ropes, and chains, to crane hook.
  • Give directions to crane operator engaged in hoisting and moving loads to insure safety of workers and material handled, using hand signals, loud speakers, two-way radios, or telephone.
  • Read and interpret lifting capacity charts.
  • Set up, brace, and rig hoisting equipment, using hand tools and power tools.
  • May direct workers engaged in hoisting of machinery and equipment into or onto trucks, railroad cars or other moving devices.

Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications & Experience:

  • Must be a Certified or Qualified Rigger, including a NCCER or NCCCO certification.
  • Barge experience is preferred.
  • Must have 4 years of verifiable experience as a rigger in industrial construction.
  • Able to coordinate the movements of hand and feet according to visual signals and directions.
  • Must be able to work off blue prints and sketches.
  • Perform a variety of duties which may change often and work within precise limits or standards of accuracy.
  • Maintain a complete knowledge of crane and rigging signals.
  • Know the emergency response procedures for mobile crane operations.
  • May be required to satisfactorily demonstrate craft certification through written and/or performance test developed and prepared by an independent third party.

Pay and Schedule Information

  • Pay at $30.00 per hour
  • Per Diem is $100.00 per day
  • Schedule is 10 hour days, 5 days per week for 3+ months.
