Responsibilities

  • Assist with positioning chain falls, hoists, blocks, rope, jacks, chains and rigging as directed by the Rigger.
  • Select cables, ropes, pulleys, winches, blocks, and sheaves based on load weight and size.
  • Attach rigging to fixed overhead structures such as beams, ceilings, and gin pole booms with bolts and clamps.
  • Inspect work sites for obstructions and hazards before work begins.
  • Give verbal and hand signals as assigned to guide operations.
  • Plan installation sequences to avoid obstacles and other workers’ activities.
  • Secure material and rigging equipment for transport.
  • Perform housekeeping of work areas and packing materials.
  • Lift and carry objects of varying weights and sizes.
  • Recognize and respond to dangerous conditions promptly.

Southern Industrial Constructors, Inc. seeks Riggers for a project in York, SC. Hired candidates will be considered for Benefits/Paid Time Off after 3-months.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Assist with the positioning of chain falls, hoists, blocks, rope, jacks, chains and rigging as directed by the Rigger
  • Select cables, ropes, pulleys, winches, blocks, and sheaves, according to weight and size of load to be moved.
  • Working knowledge in working with attaching rigging to fixed overhead structures, such as beams, ceilings, and gin pole booms with bolts and clamps
  • Inspect work sites to determine presence of obstructions.
  • Give verbal and hand signals as assigned.
  • Plan sequence of installation to avoid obstructions and activities of other construction workers.
  • Secure material and rigging equipment for transport.
  • Perform housekeeping of areas and of packing materials.
  • Lift and carry objects of varying weights.
  • Detect, recognize and respond to dangerous conditions or situations.
Qualifications
  • Skilled in both written and verbal communication.
  • Complete all Safety and general job training as required by SIC.
  • Observe SIC and Customer safety and quality processes and procedures at all times.
Physical Demands
  • Must be able to effectively use all required PPE equipment and lift up to fifty pounds.
  • Conditions include working in office, shop, busy traffic areas, warehouses, and undeveloped properties, with frequent exposure to dirt, dust, grease, oil, vibrations, and adverse weather conditions.
  • Must be able to safely access all areas of property, buildings, structures, wharves, rooftops and other elevated positions, as well as, confined spaces.
  • Strenuous physical demands are required to safely perform the essential functions associated with this position.
  • Must be able to safely operate all involved equipment and tools.
  • Must be capable of standing for long periods of time, bending consistently, working in confined spaces with limited access, on ladders, in personnel lifts, in workboats, and working in awkward body positions.
