Job summary

Metromont LLC is seeking a Rigging/Crane Support associate at our Winchester, VA site. You will attach/detach rigging and assist drivers and crane operators during loading and positioning at construction sites.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, a Level 1 rigging qualification (with potential progression to master rigger), and preferred prior rigging experience. Daily travel to different job sites is expected.

Qualifications

  • Must have Level 1 rigging qualification with ability to advance to master rigger.
  • Previous rigging experience preferred.
  • Willingness to travel to different jobsites daily.

Responsibilities

  • Assist and direct drivers delivering loads on active construction sites to the proper location for the crane to hoist.
  • Attach and detach rigging to precast units and equipment to be hoisted and relocated by cranes.
  • Properly attach a tag-line rope to each load being lifted by the crane for control.
  • Visually inspect rigging for safety issues daily.
  • Signal or verbally communicate with the crane operator to center the load block over the load.
  • Must adhere to Metromont and OSHA safety rules and regulations.

Position Purpose

This position is responsible for attaching and detaching rigging & equipment loads being delivered by tractor trailers to the cranes to be hoisted and positioned at construction job site.

Responsibilities

  • Assist and direct drivers delivering loads on active construction sites to the proper location for the crane to hoist.
  • Attach and detach rigging to precast units & equipment that are to be hoisted and relocated by cranes.
  • Properly attach a tag-line rope to each load being lifted by the crane for controlling the load through the hoisting and repositioning process.
  • Visually inspect rigging for safety issues daily.
  • Signal or verbally communicate with the crane operator to safely center the cranes load block directly over the center of the load being lifted.
  • Must adhere to all Metromont and OSHA safety rules and regulations.
  • Housekeeping as necessary to maintain work area, tools, and equipment in a clean and orderly manner.

Education & Technology

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred

  • Monday-Friday
  • Schedule varies with workload and location
  • Unscheduled overtime may be required

Work area is not climate controlled and may be exposed to changing weather and temperature conditions

  • Must be able to travel to different jobsites daily
