Job summary

TransPak in Milpitas, CA is seeking a skilled rigger to lift and position heavy loads with a strong emphasis on safety and efficiency. You will work as part of a crew and independently to ensure operations run on schedule, selecting appropriate gear and verifying rigging setups.

Ideal candidates have 2+ years of rigging experience, crane assembly/disassembly know-how, basic math for load calculations, and the ability to lift 50 lbs repeatedly. Bilingual in English/Spanish is a plus.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Forklift certification preferred or the ability to obtain.
• Valid driver's license and insured as needed.
• 2+ years rigging experience.
• Experience with crane assembly and disassembly.
• Good math skills for load calculations.
• Knowledge of rigging equipment.
• Bi-lingual English/Spanish preferred.
• Able to lift 50 lbs. and work extended hours.

Responsibilities

• Lifting and moving heavy objects, selecting gear for the job and ensuring safety.
• Attach/detach loads with safety rules and proper equipment.
• Communicate and cooperate with crew and personnel to run operations on schedule.
• Maneuver loads through confined spaces safely.
• Inspect rigging equipment and replace/repair as needed.
• Report safety concerns to management immediately.
• Support Project Team Lead and attend required trainings.

Position Summary

Essential Functions

• Lifting and moving of extremely large or heavy objects– 60%
  • Properly selects gear for the job
  • Attach and detach loads with all safety rules and regulations
  • Communicates and works cooperatively with all job present personnel effectively
  • Maneuver safely loads through difficult and confined spaces
  • Reports and escalates all concerns/situations to management immediately
• Inspect rigging equipment to ensure it is in good working order– 10%
  • Examine daily and as needed equipment and tools for the job
  • Fix, monitors, replace and report as needed
• Sound judgement, initiative, tenacity and flexibility - 30%

Marginal Functions

• Keep up-to-date and willing to comply with all safety standards
• Embrace the mission, vision and values of TransPak.
• Understand and support the Project Team Lead
• Assist with the day to day situations in the field
• Attend required meetings and trainings
• Attendance is expected and must be reliable
• Prepares and communicate reports as needed
• Other duties may be assigned depending on business needs

Education/Knowledge/Skill Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred

• Significant work experience as a rigger, 2+ years minimum
• Experienced with crane assembly and disassembly
• Good math skills for calculating load requirements
• Knowledge of rigging equipment
• Unafraid of heights, climbing ladders and scaffolding between others
• Basic English communication skills (Bilingual in Spanish/English preferred)
• Reliable and hardworking, with a team-player attitude
• Able to lift 50 lbs. on a regular basis and work extended hours as business needs
