Responsibilities

• Assist crews to complete structural and pre-fab steel erection projects
• Follow foreman instructions to maintain schedule, quality, and progress
• Read blueprints and project layout
• Measure and cut metal parts to exact specifications
• Install or fabricate metal pieces into columns, girders, or other structural frameworks
• Repair or replace existing steel parts of buildings and other structures
• Operate or assist with crane rigging and crane-like equipment
• Maintain tools and equipment in good condition
• Adhere to OSHA safety guidelines and regulations

Job description

Assist crews to complete structural and pre-fab steel erection projects of all types. Take instruction from foreman to maintain schedule, quality, and progress within the specifications of each job.

Qualification Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED is preferred.
• A minimum of 3 years of experience is preferred.
• Must have the ability to read, write, and communicate in English.
• TWIC required.
• Must have a valid Texas Driver’s License with minimal infractions.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Demonstrated industrial Ironworker history experience.
• Knowledge of hand tools, power tools and layout tools.
• Knowledge of industrial machinery and equipment
• Organization and time management & good problem-solving abilities
• Ability to work with others – team player, good communication skills with co-workers and supervisors.
• Hoist steel beams, girders, and columns into place, using cranes, or signal hoisting equipment operators to lift and position structural-steel members.
• Bolt aligned structural steel members in position for permanent riveting, bolting, or welding into place.
• Ride on girders or other structural steel members to position them or use rope to guide them into position.
• Fabricate metal parts, such as steel frames, columns, beams, or girders, according to blueprints or instructions from supervisors.

Essential Functions

• Follow OSHA safety guidelines.
• Read and understand blueprints and project layout.
• Measure and cut metal parts to exact specifications.
• Install or fabricate metal pieces into columns, girders, or other structural frameworks.
• Repair or replace existing steel parts of buildings and other structures.
• Basic crane rigging.
• Operation of scissor lift, boom lift, and other machinery to move metal pieces into place.
• Clean and maintain all tools and equipment to ensure they remain in good condition.
• Follow all industry and governmental regulations on safety protocols.

Physical Demands

Employee will be required to adhere to large amounts of standing, walking, bending, squatting and lifting. Ability to lift 25 pounds frequently.

Must be able to work in constant change in weather and site conditions.
