Job summary

The Ridership Analytics Co-op at MBTA in Boston will provide analytical support within the ridership team, extracting data from SQL and analyzing it with Python or R to answer research questions and create dashboards.

We seek a graduate student currently enrolled in a Master’s program with strong SQL and Excel skills, data curiosity, and the ability to communicate findings to both technical and non-technical audiences; hybrid schedule, 40 hours/week, six months.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an accredited graduate/Master's degree program.
• At least one year of experience with SQL.
• At least one year of experience with Microsoft Excel.
• At least one year of experience working with large datasets.
• Some knowledge of QA/QC best practices.
• Data curiosity and desire to dive in.

Responsibilities

• Analyze datasets using SQL to answer research questions.
• Create dashboards, charts, and slide decks to communicate findings.
• Contribute to monthly ridership reporting processes and fluctuations.
• Perform QA/QC on new and existing datasets to validate data.
• Respond to data requests from supervisors and stakeholders in a timely manner.
• Collaborate with diverse teams across MBTA and MassDOT.
