Section Chief of Rheumatology – Department of Medicine
Dartmouth‑Hitchcock Medical Center
Lebanon, NH

The Department of Medicine at Dartmouth‑Hitchcock Medical Center (DHMC) located in northern New England is searching for a dynamic physician to become the new Section Chief of Rheumatology. The Section Chief will lead Rheumatology’s clinical and research operations.

The Section Chief will lead a diverse group of physicians and advance practice providers to provide state‑of‑the‑art patient care, advance novel research, and train the next generation of clinicians in rheumatology. The faculty evaluate and treat patients with the full spectrum of rheumatologic disorders. The section has a robust ACGME‑accredited rheumatology fellowship.

The Chief of Rheumatology should be a skilled rheumatologist with experience overseeing a busy inpatient and outpatient service, as well as be familiar with the tripartite academic mission of clinical care, education, and research. Board certification in rheumatology is required, as is current licensure (or ability to be licensed) in New Hampshire and Vermont. The position will be a mix of clinical, administrative, and research/education activities, which will vary based on the candidate’s background and interests. The candidate should qualify for the Geisel criteria to be appointed at the rank of Associate or Professor of Medicine.

The Section Chief serves as a physician role model of expert, compassionate, and high‑value clinical care, effective teaching of learners at all levels, and respectful and inclusive relationships with interprofessional colleagues within the Section and throughout the organization. The Chief is appointed by, reports to, and serves at the discretion of the Department Chair.

Minimum qualifications:

Qualified candidates will qualify for the rank of Associate Professor or Professor at the Geisel School of Medicine; have experience as a leader in an academic medical center; be Board Certified in Rheumatology by ABIM or AOBIM; and be eligible for licensure in New Hampshire and Vermont.
