Job summary

Optum is seeking a Medical Assistant/Phlebotomy for a Rheumatology practice in Casa Grande, AZ. The role is on-site at Summit Rheumatology, with hours 6:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Thursday.

You will collect data, prepare patients, perform lab work, document in the medical record, and support referrals and authorizations. Requirements include graduation from an accredited medical assistant program, current BLS, 2+ years phlebotomy, 1+ year clinic experience, and proficiency with MS

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited medical assistant program.
• Current, active BLS.
• 2+ years of Phlebotomy experience.
• 1+ years of clinic experience.
• Proficiency with MS Outlook.
• Administrative Skills: Demonstrated ability to relay information to patients in-person and via phone.

Responsibilities

• Collects patient assessment data (height, weight, vitals, chief complaint, meds) for licensed staff review.
• Prepares patient for evaluation by obtaining specimens and assisting during exams and procedures.
• Maintains clean, stocked work area, exam room, and lab; restocks supplies as needed.
• Assists with lab procedures: urine and blood collection, labeling with patient ID.
• Documents patient information in the medical record (treatment updates, meds, results).
• Processes scripts, referrals, and authorizations as needed.
• Manages flow of patient care; answers phones and keeps appointments efficient.
• Schedules injections and infusions for patients.
• Orders supplies and medications; tracks inventory.
• Performs diagnostic testing procedures.
