Job summary

Cohu, Inc. is seeking a RF Product Development Engineer in Minnesota to design and optimize test interfaces for high-frequency semiconductor testing.

The role involves RF and signal integrity work, 3D EM and circuit simulations, and VNA-driven characterization across mmWave ranges. You will collaborate with mechanical and electrical teams to deliver high-performance test interfaces, including sockets, waveguides, cables, and PCBs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• 0–1 year of experience.
• Understanding of transmission line theory.
• Experience with RF theory in mmWave frequency range.
• Familiar with calibration procedures and VNA theory.
• Experience applying RF theory to mechanical design.
• Experience with mmWave products including waveguides.
• Proven experience with project management and driving hardware projects.

Responsibilities

• Use finite element analysis and circuit simulation software (Ansys HFSS and AWR Microwave Office) to simulate and optimize test interface hardware up to 100+ GHz.
• Characterize RF performance using a Vector Network Analyzer including insertion loss, return loss, impedance, and crosstalk.
• Analyze and correlate simulation to VNA measurement results.
• Apply RF theory to mechanical design and integration of interfaces.
• Provide design recommendations for next-generation products for high-volume semiconductor test environments.
• Provide technical support to customers for RF test interface applications.
• Generate RF test reports and presentations for new interface products.
• Present technical material to customers and at trade shows via PowerPoint.
• Limited travel required for onsite technical discussions, installations and trade shows.
