Job summary

Sierra Space is hiring an RF Test Engineer III to support testing and validation of complex aerospace systems, including spacecraft and satellites. The role involves developing test approaches for RF and space communications under senior guidance and progressing toward greater autonomy.

Ideal candidates have a strong RF/test background, experience with EGSE, VIU/ LabVIEW, and the ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team to deliver mission-ready systems. Top Secret clearance is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent work experience; Masters +3 yrs also acceptable.
• Typically 5+ years of related experience in RF/test engineering.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret U.S. Security Clearance is required.
• General expertise in one area of test engineering principles and practices (dynamics, thermal, measurement, etc.).
• Ability to read schematics, service manuals, and follow test procedures with troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

• Support the design and execution of RF and space communications tests using antennas, VNAs, spectrum analyzers and cabling.
• Implement and execute test scripts/code (Python, LabVIEW, MATLAB) for control and data acquisition.
• Work with EGSE including NI LabVIEW products and related equipment and wiring.
• Interpret electrical/network schematics and signal databases to guide tests.
• Contribute to software testing for functionality, performance, and regression.
• Support tests on TVAC, vibration, EMI/EMC and other space environments with sensors.
• Prepare test procedures/reports and assist test plan development to meet requirements.
• Apply QA principles to support non-conformance disposition.
• Read schematics, manuals, and troubleshoot testing issues logically.
• Communicate technical concepts clearly to team members and stakeholders.
