Job summary

Iridium Communications Inc. seeks a Manager, Lab Test Engineering to lead a high‑caliber RF and system‑level lab. You will manage readiness, calibration, and lifecycle of lab assets while guiding testing programs and engineering decisions in a fast‑paced environment.

You will mentor engineers, drive lab process improvements, and collaborate with product teams to ensure reliable, high‑quality testing for mission‑critical systems and programs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related technical discipline.
• 8+ years of progressive technical experience in test engineering, RF systems, satellite, aerospace, or telecommunications.
• Hands-on experience with RF test equipment and lab hardware.
• Ability to lead technical teams and manage complex workflows.
• Strong requirements analysis, verification/validation, and anomaly resolution.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Analytical mindset with urgency in decision making.

Responsibilities

• Manage daily operations of RF and system-level testing laboratory, ensuring configuration control, calibration, readiness and safe operation of test assets.
• Provide hands-on support using RF hardware, system integration tools, instrumentation, and troubleshooting workflows.
• Oversee equipment lifecycle planning, including procurement, maintenance, calibration cycles, and decommissioning.
• Identify opportunities to improve test processes, lab workflows, automation, and overall operational efficiency.
• Support Agile testing processes and contribute to backlog prioritization, aligning lab readiness with program goals.
• Provide clear communication on project progress, risks, and resource needs to leadership.
• Supervise lab personnel, managing workload prioritization and coaching engineers.
• Foster a disciplined operational environment emphasizing technical rigor, data integrity, safety, and continuous improvement.
