Job summary

Keysight in California is seeking an RF/Microwave Design Engineer to join the mm-Wave Subsystems Design Group. You will lead architecture and end-to-end RF/microwave design from concept through production, ensuring performance, manufacturability and reliability.

Deliver innovative RF/microwave solutions, develop models, run tests, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to bring cutting-edge front-end products to market. Strong fundamentals and hands-on measurement experience are essential.

Qualifications

  • BS, MS, or PhD in Electrical Engineering with RF/microwave emphasis or equivalent experience.
  • Strong foundation in electrical engineering and RF/microwave principles.
  • Proficiency with microwave modeling and simulation tools (1D/2.5D/3D).
  • Ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment.
  • Demonstrated creativity and ability to develop innovative technical solutions.
  • Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication; organized and resourceful.

  • Design RF/microwave signal conditioning components across platforms.
  • Develop electromagnetic models to characterize subsystems.
  • Develop test plans and characterize RF/mm-wave designs using advanced measurement techniques.
  • Drive root-cause analysis and implement design improvements.
  • Collaborate with internal and external partners to prototype and transition to production.

Responsibilities
About the Team

As an RF/Microwave Design Engineer, you will be part of Keysight Labs' mm-Wave Subsystems Design Group. Our team develops industry‑leading mm-wave front‑end products addressing a wide range of applications, including AI/ML, 5G, 6G, Automotive Radar, and Aerospace & Defense, in close collaboration with our Centers of Excellence and Industry Solutions Groups.

  • Help lead the architecture and definition of new products and own all phases of the RF/Microwave design process from concept through production, ensuring products meet performance, manufacturability, and reliability qualification requirements.
  • Design novel RF/Microwave signal conditioning components across a variety of cutting‑edge technology platforms.
  • Develop electromagnetic models to accurately characterize complex RF and microwave subsystems.
  • Develop test plans and perform characterization, validation, and troubleshooting of RF/mm‑wave designs and prototypes using advanced measurement techniques. Drive root‑cause analysis and implement design improvements to ensure performance objectives are achieved.
  • Work within a multidisciplinary project team to create innovative products and ensure designs meet both internal and customer requirements.
  • Collaborate with internal and external manufacturing partners to prototype designs and successfully transition them into production.
Qualifications
Core Qualifications
  • BS, MS, or PhD in Electrical Engineering or a related field with an emphasis in RF and Microwave Design, or equivalent industry experience.
  • Strong foundation in electrical engineering, electronics, and RF/microwave principles.
  • Proficiency with microwave modeling and simulation tools, including 1D, 2.5D, and 3D electromagnetic simulators.
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
  • Demonstrated creativity and ability to generate innovative technical solutions.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to effectively leverage available resources.
Desired Qualifications
  • 2+ years of experience in RF, microwave, or mm-wave subsystem design.
  • Proficiency with Keysight ADS, Genesys, and EMPro.
  • Experience with RF/mm‑wave test and measurement equipment, including vector network analyzers (VNAs), spectrum analyzers, signal generators, power meters, and automated test systems.
  • Experience debugging and troubleshooting RF/mm‑wave hardware, correlating measurement results to simulation models, and performing root‑cause analysis.
  • Experience with design verification, product qualification, and transition of RF hardware into manufacturing.

California pay range: MIN $124,420 MIDPT $165,890- MAX $207,370

Note: For other locations, pay ranges will vary by region
