Job summary

Xona is seeking an RF Engineer in Burlingame, CA to design, implement, test, and optimize RF systems for our next-generation satellite navigation system. You will work on spacecraft payload electronics and ground monitoring, aligning RF performance with our high-accuracy PNT service.

Ideal candidates have 2–4 years of RF experience, hands-on RF test skills, and familiarity with Altium, Keysight ADS, AWR, or HFSS for RF simulations. Travel for off-site tests may be required.

Qualifications

• 2–4 years of RF engineering experience.
• Understanding of electromagnetic principles underlying RF communications and metrics.
• Ability to interpret PCB schematics and layout drawings with Altium.
• Hands-on experience with RF test equipment (multimeters, oscilloscopes, signal generators, spectrum analyzers).
• RF design experience in L-band, S-band, and C-band.
• Familiarity with RF circuit simulation tools such as Keysight ADS or AWR Microwave Office.
• Experience calibrating RF test setups and analyzing RF data against requirements.
• Experience with space RF electronics and multipaction phenomena.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, test, and optimize RF systems for our satellite navigation system.
• Work on spacecraft payload electronics and ground monitoring systems.
• Ensure RF broadcast system delivers high-accuracy positioning, navigation, and timing.
• Interpret RF test data and verify performance against design requirements.
• Collaborate across engineering teams and support off-site testing events as needed.
