Job summary

SEAKR Engineering in Centennial, Colorado is seeking an RF Design Engineer II to contribute to electronic RF systems for space vehicle applications. You will design front-end RF chains and work on oscillators, distributions, and lab verification.

Collaborate with senior engineers, assist in PCB layout, verify performance with multi-GHz instruments, and deliver clear reports to leadership. A BSEE or equivalent is required, with hands-on RF design experience and tool proficiency.

Qualifications

• BSEE or equivalent university degree.
• Strong grounding in RF circuit theory and transmission lines.
• Knowledge of mixer, oscillator and clock basics.
• RF circuit characterization including S-parameters.
• PCB fabrication and automated assembly awareness.
• Schematic capture with Xpedition; RF tool proficiency (Cadence/AWR, ADS).
• 3D EM modeling experience (HFSS).
• Experience using RF test equipment (VNAs, spectrum/VSAs, phase noise).
• Collaborative design experience and ability to present reviews.

Responsibilities

• Perform tasks with guidance from senior engineers.

Job Description

Seeking a talented and highly motivated RF Design Engineer who will contribute to the development of electronic radio-frequency systems for space vehicle applications.

The RF Engineer II will:

• Design front-end RF signal-chain circuits and assemblies for space vehicle communication and signal analysis systems using filters, amplifiers, mixers, couplers, transmission lines, impedance matching networks, and related components
• Contribute to the design of stable, low-phase noise oscillators and distribution networks
• Complete design, analysis, and test assignments efficiently and on schedule
• Perform assignments with a moderate amount of technical guidance from senior-level engineers
• Contribute to engineering documentation according to SEAKR's workflow
• Support PCB layout engineers to ensure circuit boards will meet RF performance requirements
• Verify design performance with systematic laboratory measurements of engineering models
• Perform worst case RF circuit analysis following SEAKR procedures
• Assist in troubleshooting questionable RF hardware identified during test
• Collaborate with RF Engineering Group to improve hardware development processes
• Create clear reports and deliver summary presentations to product and project leadership with minimal review

Qualifications

• BSEE or equivalent university degree
• Understanding of linear RF circuit theory, including planar transmission line structures and wave propagation
• Understanding of mixer circuit basics and performance parameters
• Understanding of oscillator and clock circuit basics and performance parameters
• Understanding of RF circuit and signal characterization including the application of scattering parameter measurements
• Understanding of printed circuit board fabrication and automated assembly processes
• Skills in schematic capture (Siemens Xpedition tools preferred)
• Skills in RF design and analysis using commercial EDA tools (Cadence/AWR Microwave Office or Keysight ADS preferred)
• Experience with 3D EM field modeling and CAD tools (Ansys HFSS preferred)
• Experience in RF component and circuit verification measurements using multi-GHz VNAs, Spectrum Analyzers, Vector Signal Analyzers, Vector Signal Sources, and/or Phase Noise Analyzers
• Experience working in collaborative design where success depends on collective efforts
• Experience in presenting briefings and design reviews to internal project teams
• Understanding of sampling and signal processing in digital RF systems is a plus

Additional Information

Compensation: Base salary range is $90,000-120,000/year, depending on qualifications. SEAKR has very rich medical, dental and vision insurance plans, along with a generous 401(k) retirement plan. In addition to base salary, employees are eligible for a year-end bonus. SEAKR offers a variety of paid leave, such as vacation, sick, bereavement, and FMLA.
