Comet Plasma Control Technologies in San Jose seeks an Applications Engineer - RF Power to provide advanced RF engineering support for integration and troubleshooting of RF systems in semiconductor equipment. You will leverage hands-on fabrication to prototype fixtures and support tool integration with customers.

The role requires a bachelor’s or master’s degree in EE/Mechatronics and 3+ years in RF applications, plus experience with machining and fixture design.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in EE or related with RF emphasis.
• 3+ years RF applications or semiconductor equipment experience.
• Hands-on fabrication using milling, turning, CNC.
• Familiarity with mechanical drawings, tolerances, and GD&T.
• Knowledge of Smith charts, S-parameters, RF circuit design, and RF tests.

Responsibilities

• Integrate RF subsystems into semiconductor equipment and verify performance.
• Perform RF characterization, impedance matching, and power delivery optimization.
• Design, modify, or fabricate fixtures, brackets, mechanical interfaces, and test assemblies for lab evaluation or customer integration.
• Build, assemble, or modify mechanical components for RF experiments or tool fit checks.
• Conduct lab testing, data analysis, and troubleshooting with RF and mechanical considerations.
• Support pre-sales and post-sales with technical presentations and demonstrations.
• Provide actionable customer feedback to R&D for RF/mechanical improvements.
• Generate documentation, application notes, build instructions, and illustrations.
• Provide on-site and remote customer support, including hands-on adjustments.
• Mentor junior engineers in RF and fabrication techniques.
