Job summary

Precision Castparts is seeking an experienced Welder to repair castings to customer specifications using GMAW, GTAW, SMAW and PAW. You will inspect welds and ensure proper metal deposition in accordance with PCC standards.

This role requires PCC Welding Tech Series and certs in two alloys or titanium, plus a minimum of two years welding experience. Safety, equipment maintenance and precise documentation are essential.

Qualifications

  • Advanced welding skills demonstrated by PCC Welding Tech Series and Welding Certification in two applicable alloys or titanium at time of hire.
  • Two years of applicable welding experience.
  • Equivalent combination of classroom training and work experience with Certification to PCC Weld Test Standards.

Responsibilities

  • Welds castings using GMAW, GTAW, SMAW and PAW per customer and PCC specifications.
  • Inspects front and back of welds to ensure proper technique and metal deposition.
  • Maintains welding equipment and performs minor tool maintenance.
  • Follows Process Control Procedures and aerospace standards.
  • Works safely, adheres to plant safety rules, and reports safety concerns.

Job description

Summary

To repair castings to meet customer specifications by replacing metal in defective areas using various welding techniques.

Essential Functions
  • Welding.
  • Objective: to weld castings to customer and PCC specifications.
  • Typical Activities:
  • Reviews inspection/rework analyst paperwork and tech cards.
  • Identifies and inspects prepared areas needing repair.
  • Welds areas on castings using one or more techniques: Gas Metal Arc Welder (GMAW), Gas Tungstun Arc Welder (GTAW), Shielded Metal Arc Welder (SMAW) and Plasma Arc Welder (PAW).
  • Welds in compliance with Process Control Procedures and external quality control standards including aerospace standards.
  • Welds repairs by placing castings on benches, fixtures or in bubble cabinets; uses mirrors to complete welds in difficult areas of castings as needed; wears necessary safety equipment.
  • Inspects front and back of completed welds to assure proper technique and adequate metal deposit.
  • Equipment Maintenance.
  • Objective: to maintain welding equipment in good working order.
  • Typical Activities:
  • Repairs torch heads, replaces power cables and performs minor maintenance on welding tools.
  • Safety.
  • Objective: to take responsibility for and demonstrate safe work practices.
  • Typical Activities:
  • Adheres to plant and department safety rules.
  • Safely operates all equipment and tools.
  • Identifies and reports safety problems.
Qualifications
  • Required Education & Experience
  • Advanced welding skills as demonstrated by completion of the PCC approved Welding Tech Series and Welding Certification in two applicable alloys or titanium at time of hire,
  • Two years of applicable welding experience.
  • An equivalent combination of classroom training and work experience, and completion of Certification to PCC Weld Test Standards.
  • Required Skills & Abilities
  • 20/30 correctable vision in both eyes, and satisfactory passage of depth perception and color vision tests.
  • Good eye/hand coordination.
  • Ability to read and follow specifications on Tech Cards.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to lift and/or maneuver objects weighing thirty to fifty pounds and occasionally up to eighty pounds.
  • Ability to work in difficult working conditions which may include exposure to noise, dust, chemicals, temperature extremes, awkward physical positions and other elements for extended periods of time.
