Job summary

First Quality is seeking a packaging operator to operate sealing equipment, label and package products, and prepare them for shipment at our McElhattan, PA facility. You will complete QA paperwork, maintain clean work areas, and assist in other production or samples areas as needed.

Qualified candidates will have a high school diploma or equivalent, the ability to work in a fast-paced team environment, and basic computer experience with Windows software. Prior computer experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Operate packaging equipment, sealers, stretch wrappers, and perform proper procedures.
  • Inspect, label, and package products into designated cartons for shipment.
  • Complete required QA and production paperwork.
  • Maintain housekeeping and assist in other production/sample areas as needed.
  • Perform quality checks on finished products per QA guidelines.
  • Maintain and replace lot codes and printer cartridges; manage inventory reporting.
  • Keep machines and work areas clean and orderly; use Windows software to maintain product history.
  • Complete necessary paperwork accurately and timely.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Job description

Responsible for operating packaging sealing equipment in a safe, competent, and efficient manner. Inspect, label, and package products into the designated carton and case in preparation for shipment. Complete required quality and production paperwork. Maintain good housekeeping in the facility, assist in other production and samples areas as needed.

Principal Accountabilities/ Responsibilities:
  • Observes all safety rules and uses the proper safety equipment at all times.
  • Follows necessary GMP, FDA, and ISO regulations/guidelines.
  • Sequentially start-up and operate designated packaging equipment, manual hand sealers, stretch wrappers, and utilizing proper procedures, competently and productively.
  • Performs quality checks on the finished product according to QA guidelines for each product.
  • Maintains quality standards for the product being produced.
  • Utilizes lot code printer to include: changing lot code information, replacing ink cartridges.
  • Ensures proper raw materials are in place.
  • Accurately account product lot codes used for reporting utilizing Radio Frequency Units (RFU) regarding inventory control.
  • Utilizes windows based software to accurately maintain specific product history and information.
  • Keeps the machines and surrounding areas clean and orderly.
  • Assists other team members when required.
  • Completes all necessary paperwork accurately and properly.
  • Performs other duties as necessary when directed to do so.
Education and experience requirements:
  • Completion of all required training and assessments.
  • Ability to operate in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to communicate orally and written.
  • Ability to work in a team orientated environment.
  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Prior computer experience preferred.
Work Environment:
  • Work in an environment with the potential for exposure to dust during certain tasks.
Physical Requirements:
  • Walk / stand 100% of time during a 5-8 hour shift.
  • Constant bending throughout shift.
  • Occasional kneeling during shift.
  • Occasional reaching overhead during shift.
  • Constant pushing and pulling with arms and legs throughout shift.
  • Constant lifting or carrying of boxes weighing up to 30 lbs.Constant use of hands and occasional use of foot control.
  • Constant light and firm grasping with hands throughout shift.
  • Operation of hand trucks, baler, and compactor throughout shift.
  • Daily sweeping and organizing floor and work area.
  • Required participation in a daily pre-shift warm-up routine.
