Job summary

The Trustees of Princeton University is seeking candidates for a Visiting Research Scholar / Visiting Professional Specialist through the Center for Information Technology (CITP) fellows' program. Positions are typically nine months, starting between May 1, 2026 and February 1, 2027, with a September 1, 2026 target for the main start.

The appointment rank will be Visiting Research Scholar or Visiting Professional Specialist based on experience.

Descript The Visiting Professionals track of the Center for Information Technology (CITP) fellows' program is for professionals - academics and practitioners - who will be on leave from their job. These are typically nine-month appointments, commencing on or about September 1, 2026, but we are flexible, and positions can start anywhere between May 1, 2026 and February 1, 2027. Their primary appointment will be at the rank of "Visiting Research Scholar" or "Visiting Professional Specialist" depending on experience.

• Advanced degree such as M.A., Ph.D. or J.D.
• Applicants must be on leave from another institution. If you are selected, we will require documentation from your home institution stating that you are on leave during your entire appointment period while here at CITP.
• Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
• Applicants must not require immigration sponsorship for work authorization.

Expected Salary Range: Salary is dependent on and can be up to the candidate's current full salary at their home institution.

The University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's qualifications, work experience, education/training, key skills, market, collective bargaining agreements as applicable, and organizational considerations when extending an offer. The posted salary range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate for a full-time position; salaries for part-time positions are pro-rated accordingly.
