Job summary

West Devon Borough Council is looking for a Revenues and Recovery Officer to support the billing and recovery process, establish liability, and assess discounts and exemptions.

You should have a good working knowledge of Council Tax legislation and enforcement, with accuracy, customer care, and initiative. Training on NEC and Information at Work will be provided; some attendance at Tavistock/Totnes offices may be required.

Qualifications

• Good knowledge of Council Tax legislation and enforcement procedures.
• Strong customer service skills with accuracy and reliability.

Responsibilities

• Assist in all stages of the billing and recovery process, including liability establishment.
• Assess discounts and exemptions as appropriate under Council Tax rules.
• Provide high-quality customer care and guidance to residents.
• Work with the enforcement process and maintain accurate records.
• Use NEC and Information at Work software; training provided if needed.

Job description

As a Revenues and Recovery Officer, you will assist in all stages of the billing and recovery process, including establishing liability, assessing discounts and exemptions

You should have a good working knowledge of Council Tax legislation and best practice, including the enforcement process.

A committed team player who can work on their own initiative, you will also demonstrate accuracy and attention to detail and have excellent customer care skills.

Experience of using NEC and Information at Work software is desirable, however if you have experience of other software we will provide you with full training and support.

Please note the successful candidate will require a satisfactory basic DBS check.
