Job summary

Johns Hopkins Medicine is seeking a Revenue Integrity Specialist II to support a multidisciplinary team focused on strengthening the interface between clinical departments and charge improvement and compliance for billing.

Under the Director of Revenue Integrity, you will help review coding and billing guidelines, monitor charge capture, and prevent revenue leakage by taking a holistic view of the charging process from patient care to final bill generation.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, healthcare administration, or related field is required.
  • Two years of experience with healthcare billing systems is required; substitutions allowed as described.
  • Coding certification (CPC, CCS or COC) or AHIMA/AAPC recognition is required.

Responsibilities

  • Supports charge capture and reconciliation to optimize charging and prevent leakage.
  • Maintains charge masters and fee schedules in collaboration with CDM, compliance and coding teams.
  • Communicates performance opportunities and provides education to staff.
  • Oversees charge monitoring to correct missed or incorrect charges.

Job Summary:

SupportsRevenueIntegrity’sMissiontowardscreatingamultidisciplinaryrevenueintegrityteam tostrengthentheinterfacebetweenclinicaldepartmentsandchargeimprovementand complianceforbilling.Underdirectionof the Director of Revenue Integrity, theRevenueIntegritySpecialistIIplaysanimportantroleinahigh-profilegrouptaskedwithimprovingcharge captureresultsbytakingaglobalviewofthe full charging process,functionsandinterdependenciesfrom theprovisionofpatientcaretofinalbillgeneration.Role will supportproper charge compliance through review of coding and billing guidelines and will supportdenialsprevention.

Essential Functions
  • Supports associated processes for consistent and accurate charge capture and reconciliation practices in order to optimize charging throughout the organization and identify opportunities for improvement and prevention of revenue leakage.
  • Provides local direction and input and is expert for build and maintenance of charge masters and fee schedules (R&B, lab, pharmacy, supplies, surgical, radiology, cardiology, etc. and physician charge master) and works collaboratively with CDM, compliance and coding teams.
  • Promotes a collaborative relationship between reimbursement, finance, clinical and operational leadership both local and health system. Communicating performance opportunities, instills accountability, supports change management, monitors quality and provides routine feedback and educational opportunities.
  • Oversees charge monitoring and charge capture related activities in order to identify opportunities to correct and prevent missed or incorrect charges and improve charging practices.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in finance, healthcare administration, or related field(Required)
  • One year of relevant education may be substituted for one year of required work experience or one year of relevant professional-level work experience may be substituted for one year of required education.
  • 2 years of experience with healthcare billing systems(Required)
  • Certification in Coding: CPC, CCS or COC Healthcare-related licensure or other AHIMA or AAPC recognized coding certification(Required)
Salary Range:

Minimum $26.51/hour - Maximum $43.76/hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility. In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount, salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls, before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
