Job summary

UAB Medicine is seeking a Revenue Integrity Specialist at UAB St. Vincent’s Birmingham to optimize revenue, ensure regulatory compliance, and protect charge capture integrity across the enterprise.

You will collaborate with clinical departments, Revenue Cycle, HIM, IT, and other stakeholders to perform advanced edits, validations, and data analysis for accurate reimbursement. The role requires expertise in CPT/HCPCS coding, charge capture, and education of colleagues on documentation

Qualifications

• Requires RHIA/RHIT/CCS/CPC/COC/CIC or other coding credentials.
• HFMA CRCS certifications are preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Ensure CPT/HCPCS documentation accuracy for patient billing and educate departments.
• Perform pre-bill edits and monitor key metrics (OCE/CCI, DNFB).
• Provide support to ancillary departments for charge capture and identify duplicate charges.
• Conduct charge entry, approvals, and quality reviews; add modifiers as needed.
• Code and validate charges for complex service lines with surgical or specialty focus.
• Educate clinical staff on documentation improvements to optimize revenue and integrity.
• Analyze trends in clinical and billing data to identify issues and opportunities.
• Collaborate with clinical areas to document services and understand coding relationships.
