Steele County is seeking a Revenue Enhancement Specialist to perform detailed administrative duties, capture revenue from funding sources, process claims, and verify client eligibility. Responsibilities include reviewing billable services, updating reimbursement information, and generating reports to communicate financial trends.

Qualifications

  • Associate’s Degree in behavioral or social sciences, business administration, administrative assistant, healthcare administration, accounting or closely related field.
  • Two years of experience in customer service, data entry, waivers, county or state human services experience OR a combination of education and experience.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Ability to pass a background check.

  • Identifies, reviews and submits billable services to capture revenue from various funding sources.
  • Process claims, reviews reports and updates information to submit for reimbursement; provides quality control.
  • Verifies and monitors eligibility for programs and communicates updates to clients and team members.
  • Researches and resolves denials or errors due to missing information.
  • Maintains databases, spreadsheets and reports to communicate financial stability and trends.
  • Reconciles department budget and collaborates with accounting for billing integrity and compliance.
  • Collaborates with the Minnesota Department of Human Services on waivers and state plan changes.
  • Performs quality assurance audits within the revenue cycle and monitors work queues.
  • Assists team members with navigating human services programs and with training new employees.

Job description

Duties The Revenue Enhancement Specialist will perform detailed administrative and clerical duties. Identifies, reviews and submits billable services to capture revenue from various funding sources. Processes claims while ensuring accuracy. Reconciles budgets and utilizes many county and state computer programs to ensure client eligibility. This position is focused on maximizing revenue for the department by investigating, analyzing and resolving technical matters. Ability to leverage available funding streams while maintaining compliance with federal and state regulations while improving processes across all services areas. Assist coworkers throughout the Human Services Department and related work as assigned. Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Maintains accurate data bases, spreadsheets and statistical information and creates reports to communicate financial stability and trends.
  • Reconciles department budget and collaborates with accounting department, supervisors and management team to ensure integrity in billing and compliance.
  • Collaborates with the Minnesota Department of Human Services to stay informed of changes to waivers and state plan services.
  • Performs quality assurance audits within the revenue cycle. Including monitoring work queues, reports, and identifying any performance improvement trends to supervisor.
  • Assist team members with navigating and troubleshooting human services programs.

Job Benefits

Steele County will contribute to HSA/VEBA $1,700 for single or $3,500 for family (if you elect to pay for our Medical insurance that is provided by Medica); other benefits that are available include dental, vision, life insurance, long term disability insurance, deferred compensation plan, pension plan, employee assistance program, paid time off, etc. Cost of living adjustment and pay increases per union contract. The pay range listed is our 2026 rates. We are currently set to receive a 4% cost of living adjustment on 1/1/2027.
