Job summary

Tempus in Chicago seeks a Manager, Revenue Accounting to lead its revenue operations. You will manage monthly close, review ASC 606 contracts, and supervise revenue staff, ensuring GAAP compliance and accurate reporting.

The role partners with Finance, Legal, and Commercial teams to optimize processes and implement automated billing solutions, supporting SEC disclosures and internal controls. CPA required with Big 4 background preferred.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5+ years of accounting experience with emphasis on revenue accounting (ASC 606) or technical revenue auditing.
• 2+ years of direct people management or supervision experience leading revenue accounting teams.
• CPA license (active) required.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or Accounting.
• Expert knowledge of ASC 606 and GAAP, preferably with SaaS/Data Licensing/Healthcare Diagnostics experience.

Responsibilities

• Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual revenue close processes, ensuring accurate journal entries and deferred revenue accounting.
• Review complex customer contracts for ASC 606 revenue recognition, including performance obligations and contract modifications.
• Approve revenue GL transactions, deferred revenue schedules, and monthly reconciliations.
• Coordinate revenue-related disclosures, schedules, and audit workpapers for SEC filings and SOX controls.
• Oversee revenue accounting operations, billing system integration, and research technical memos for key arrangements.
• Collaborate with Controller, Revenue Senior Manager, and Systems to design automated billing/revenue data pipelines.
• Partner with Commercial Sales, FP&A, Legal, and Diagnostics Billing to ensure accurate revenue alignment.
• Mentor and manage revenue accountants, supporting professional growth and performance.
• Produce ad-hoc revenue analyses and reports for executive leadership.
