FMNE Insurance is seeking a Reunderwriting Manager to join ourUnderwriting Department. We're looking for a collaborative, results-driven leader with deep underwriting expertise and a passion for developing people, improving processes, and strengthening portfolio performance. Role Overview of a Reunderwriting Manager:

The Reunderwriting Manager leads a centralized reunderwriting function responsible for evaluating and managing in-force policy risk across auto, home, and farm lines of business. This role establishes a unified approach to risk review, inspection, and loss control activities.

The manager will build and lead a team of reunderwriters, field reunderwriters, and inspection specialists, ensuring consistent application of underwriting standards, proactive identification of risk issues, and effective mitigation strategies. This includes developing a formal field reunderwriting capability and integrating inspection insights into underwriting decision-making to improve profitability, risk selection, and portfolio performance.

Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Management

  • Lead, develop, and manage a centralized reunderwriting team, including desk and field roles.
  • Establish clear workflows, performance expectations, and KPIs to ensure quality and productivity.
  • Coach and mentor staff while managing hiring, performance, and capacity planning.

Reunderwriting Strategy & Execution

  • Develop and implement a unified reunderwriting strategy across all personal lines.
  • Oversee in-force policy reviews to identify risk issues, exposure concentrations, and profitability concerns.
  • Lead targeted reunderwriting initiatives and ensure consistent application of guidelines and procedures.

Field Reunderwriting & Risk Assessment

  • Establish and oversee field reunderwriting and inspection capabilities.
  • Integrate inspection findings and loss control insights into underwriting decisions.
  • Ensure accurate valuation practices, including Insurance-To-Value (ITV), for dwellings, buildings, and equipment.

Quality Assurance & Governance

  • Implement audit and quality review processes across reunderwriting activities.
  • Conduct file audits, field reviews, and agency evaluations to ensure adherence to standards.
  • Oversee data integrity, support system, and data cleanup initiatives.

Collaboration & Business Impact

  • Partner with Claims, Product, Analytics, and Agency teams to identify trends and improve risk quality.
  • Provide insights to support underwriting guidelines, pricing, and product decisions.
  • Support agency relationships through audit feedback and risk improvement initiatives.

Operational Effectiveness

  • Drive process improvements, standardization, and scalability across a previously decentralized model.
  • Monitor performance metrics and reporting to improve efficiency and outcomes.
  • Lead change management efforts associated with the centralized reunderwriting function.

Administrative Responsibilities

  • Conduct performance reviews, manage scheduling and team communications, and address escalations.
  • Perform additional duties as needed to support departmental and organizational goals.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of underwriting, reunderwriting, or related insurance experience in personal lines.
  • Proven leadership experience with the ability to build, develop, and manage high-performing teams.
  • Strong underwriting and risk assessment expertise, including analysis of loss trends and portfolio performance.
  • Experience with or knowledge of property inspections, field underwriting, loss control, and ITV concepts preferred.
  • Experience leading process improvement, transformation, or centralization initiatives strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency with Guidewire or similar policy administration systems.
  • Professional designations (e.g., CPCU, ARM, AIC) or progress toward completion a plus.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and influencing skills across cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, drive change, and translate data into actionable insights.
