Job summary

ADP, Inc. is seeking a Retort Operator 1 (1st Shift) for our East Bernstadt, KY production site. The role oversees the cooking process to ensure complete sterilization and top quality, loading and unloading retort trays, and logging batch details.

You should have a High School Diploma or equivalent, and about 6 months of manufacturing experience is preferred. Training is provided according to the Training Register.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
• In addition, 6 months of experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload trays into the retort oven using the LCD recipe.
• Schedule workload and load retort ovens.
• Monitor gauges (PSI, °F, gallons/min) and adjust as needed.
• Log batch start/stop times and counts for computer entry.
• Verify log sheets for accuracy at shift end.
• Perform other duties as listed in SWES or training register.

Position Summary:

The Retort Operator is to oversee and guide the cooking process to ensure that the product is completely sterilized and of the highest quality.

Job Responsibilities:

• Accessing menus on a LCD screen to load the appropriate recipe on the retort oven.
• Loading/unloading trays of food into the retort oven.
• Scheduling workload in loading the retort ovens.
• Overseeing the cooking process by watching the cooking gauges for pressure measured in PSI, temperature in degrees Fahrenheit, and water flow in gallons per minute. Watching for variances in three factors and making any necessary adjustments to compensate accordingly.
• Logging every batch (start/stop times), loading number of trays in the retort log and the count sheet for computer entry.
• Verifying the log sheet throughout their shift and at the end of the shift for accuracy.
• Perform other duties as listed on SWES and/or training register

The employee will work near moving mechanical parts and can be regularly exposed to extreme hot or cold. The employee is constantly exposed to vibrations. The employee is also exposed to fumes, or airborne particles. The work environment can be noisy and/ or moderately loud. Some personal protective equipment may be mandatory depending on location.

Physical Requirements:

Work requires standing and/or walking for periods of eight hours or more, moving and examining objects at high and low reach, and reading for periods of three hours or more. Refer to the Physical Job Description for a full listing.
