Job summary

Taylor Shellfish is seeking a Retort Operator at our Corporate Headquarters in Shelton, WA. You will operate and monitor retort systems to process canned foods safely and maintain quality standards.

Full-time position with swing shifts and hourly pay in the published range. Responsibilities include tracking product lots, reading scales and charts, and ensuring consistent attendance with reliable performance.

Qualifications

• Operation of Retort equipment (training will be provided).
• Regular, reliable, predictable attendance.
• Computer and calculator skills.

The retort operator is responsible for operating and monitoring retort systems used in the thermal processing of food products. They ensure that canned goods are processed under controlled conditions to meet safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

• Ability to work independently at times with little direction
• Strong and sound decision making skills
• Ability to track multiple lots of product
• Ability to read scales and charts
• Operation of Retort equipment (training will be provided)
• Regular, reliable, predictable attendance
• Computer and calculator skills
• Need to be able to take and pass Better Process Control class on canned foods and thermal processing.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

• Ability to sit, stand and/or walk on uneven ground
• The employee may be required to stoop, bend, kneel, twist, and squat
• The vision requirements include: close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus
• Must be able to speak and hear well enough to communicate with co-workers, supervisors and managers
• Must be able to use hands for repetitive simple grasping, pushing, pulling and fine manipulation
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
