Job summary

Empower is hiring a Retirement Plan Counselor in Portland, OR to deliver on-site and virtual education and enrollment presentations for defined contribution plans. The role supports the Relationship Management team, travels as needed, and requires Spanish fluency.

Candidate must reside in Portland or nearby and be eligible to work in the U.S. Responsibilities include driving plan enrollment, deferral increases, and rollovers, plus coordinating travel and reporting.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience considered.
  • 2–4 years financial services experience.
  • Strong presentation skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Teams.
  • Strong relationship building and territory management skills.
  • FINRA Series 6 and Series 63 registrations within established timelines.
  • Availability to travel with overnight stays.
  • FINRA fingerprinting required.
  • Fluent in Spanish.
  • Working knowledge of Salesforce preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and facilitate communication and education strategies for one-on-one virtual and on-site group meetings.
  • Drive participants to enroll, increase deferrals, and rollover from previous plans.
  • Achieve business results and have impactful conversations while meeting SLAs.
  • Complete reporting within required timeframes (log meetings, attendees, outcomes).
  • Build strong relationships with key contacts, plan sponsor representatives, and internal stakeholders.
  • Manage meeting schedule, including travel bookings.
  • Provide feedback to local relationship managers on materials and strategies.
  • Attend client meetings with service team members.
  • May participate in finals presentations for new prospects in the territory.

The Retirement Plan Counselor is responsible for delivering on-site and virtual education and enrollment presentations to new and existing defined contribution 401(k)/(a), 403(b), and/or Government 457 plan participants across all plan sizes. The Counselor leverages Empower’s industry leading technology and tools to drive positive results and help employees strive for a successful retirement. This position will also assist the Relationship Management team in effectively establishing and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders within the territory assigned.

Candidate must reside in Portland, Oregon or very close proximity. Air travel and overnight stays will be required in addition to being based in Portland.

Candidate must speak Fluent Spanish.

What You Will Do
  • Develop and facilitate communication and education strategies by conducting one-on-one virtual and on-site group meeting by using various technologies in a professional manner
  • Drive participants to take measurable actions to improve their retirement outcomes including plan enrollment, deferral increases, and rollovers from previous plans
  • Achieve business results and facilitate impactful conversations while meeting service level agreements
  • Consistently complete reporting requirements within required timeframes including logging meetings, attendees and outcomes in appropriate systems
  • Build strong relationships with assigned key contacts, plan sponsor representatives and internal stakeholders to maximize successful participant outcomes
  • Manage meeting schedule, including travel booking
  • Provide feedback to local relationship managers about the effectiveness of communication materials/strategies and assist in identifying alternatives
  • Attend client meetings with other service team members
  • May be asked to participate in finals presentations for new prospects based on the demands of the territory
What You Will Bring
  • Bachelor's degree and or equivalent experience considered in lieu of a degree
  • 2 – 4 years relevant financial services experience
  • Strong presentation skills required
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Teams required
  • Strong relationship building and territory management skills
  • FINRA Series 6 and Series 63 registrations within established timelines required
  • Availability to travel with overnight stays
  • FINRA fingerprinting required
  • Fluent in Spanish

  • Ability to calculate figures such as interest, proportions, percentages, and fractions required

Base Salary Range

$59,700.00 - $84,300.00

The salary range above shows the typical minimum to maximum base salary range for this position in the location listed. Non-sales positions have the opportunity to participate in a bonus program. Sales positions are eligible for sales incentives, and in some instances a bonus plan, whereby total compensation may far exceed base salary depending on individual performance. Actual compensation offered may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer.
