Job summary

NY Retina, a physician-owned retina practice in New York, seeks an Ophthalmic Technician to join our fast-paced, patient-focused team. The role involves gathering histories, performing diagnostic testing, and supporting both clinical and front-office tasks.

Candidates with ophthalmology experience and strong communication skills are encouraged to apply. High school diploma or GED is required; COA is preferred.

Qualifications

• Prior experience in ophthalmology or an eye care setting.
• Working knowledge of ocular anatomy and vision testing.
• Strong organizational and multitasking skills in a fast-paced environment.

• Professional demeanor and commitment to patient confidentiality.
• Ability to work independently and take initiative.
• COA certification is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Obtain and document patient medical and ocular histories.
• Triage patient symptoms and identify needs for testing or physician evaluation.
• Perform diagnostic and auxiliary ophthalmic testing.
• Assist with patient care procedures as directed by physicians.
• Follow all infection control and safety protocols.
• Support front office operations as needed (phones, patient check-out, etc.).
• Complete additional administrative or clinical tasks to support the practice.
