Summary: Responsible for providing excellent customer service following company policies and procedures and selling products at the retail store by performing the following duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Promote products and programs in a professional and business‑like manner.
  • Loads customer vehicles with product, observing required and reasonable safety measures.
  • Unloads trucks delivering product using proper equipment such as two‑wheeled cart, forklift, etc.
  • Fills propane bottles for in‑store customers as well as tanks for delivery to customers and locations.
  • Ensures propane tanks are not overfilled and safety is observed.
  • Replaces valves on bottles with outdated valves and performs bottle inspections as needed.
  • Performs other petroleum related duties.
  • Reacting to and reporting customer complaints tactfully and promptly.
  • Following policies and procedures established to prevent loss of cash and merchandise due to actions by employees, vendors, and customers.
  • Billing, receiving, pricing, stocking, rotating and counting merchandise in store and warehouse.
  • May be responsible for cash drawer, including reconciliation and cash deposits.
  • Assist management in maintaining buildings, equipment, and grounds.
  • Certain branches/locations may require the employee to maintain a valid driver’s license and commercial insurability at all times.
  • All other duties associated with a high‑volume retail outlet.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.

Exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly.

Education / Experience

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Ability

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one‑on‑one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Math Ability

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of accounting and inventory software.
