Wegmans is seeking an Hourly Entry-Level Manager for one of our store perishable foods departments. You will join a dynamic retail environment with growth opportunities and the chance to educate customers while leading a team to deliver fresh products.

You'll gain a deep understanding of our values, standards, and operations, with management opportunities across departments such as Produce, Floral, Deli, Bakery, Cheese, Meat, and Seafood.

You will ensure the most knowledgeable and passionate people are working to educate our customers and get them the freshest products available. Within the store, you will have many opportunities to bring your skills to the team with management opportunities available in various departments. These departments may include: Produce, Floral, Deli, Bakery, Cheese, Meat, and Seafood. If you love fresh products and managing others, then this could be the role for you!

What will I do?

• Focus on company standards regarding merchandising, highlighting quality, freshness and uniqueness of products
• Use passion and knowledge to educate team members and customers on product offerings
• Proactively approach customers, answer questions, help locate items and offer suggestions to complete their meals

Required Qualifications

• 1 or more years of work experience or a college degree
• Computer skills

Work Environment: The physical demands of this work are classified as medium to heavy. Work includes walking, standing for up to 4 hours without a break, repetitive hand and arm movements, occasional heavy lifting, bending, and reaching, including reaching and lifting above shoulder height, along with continuous interaction with customers and coworkers in a fast-paced environment. The average weight range of items lifted is 5 – 20 pounds with a maximum weight lifted greater than 50 pounds occasionally. You may receive assistance with heavy items, if available. Upper extremity repetition is moderate to moderately high and trunk movement involves moderate to moderately high twisting, bending, and pivoting. May be exposed to various allergens (things that may cause an allergic reaction). The work environment is indoors with exposure to cold (33 – 55 degrees) temperatures and wet conditions. Basic tools and equipment used include box cutter, u-cart, hand/power jack, compactor, baler, knives, packaging supplies, and food processing equipment.; Experience ordering products and controlling inventory; Experience coordinating daily work of others; Managerial/supervisory experience living our values and achieving results in our 5 measures; Perishable experience; Collective customer service experience, internally and/or externally preferably in a food service, grocery or retail setting
