Job summary

Columbia Sportswear Company is seeking a Retail Supervisor to join the Store Leadership Team. You will assist the Store Manager in operations, lead a diverse team, and provide sales floor leadership to drive sales and create a personalized shopping experience for customers.

You will train associates, manage merchandising and replenishment, and ensure adherence to company policies while promoting a culture of teamwork and high professional standards.

Qualifications

• 2-5 years of experience in a retail or supervisory role.
• Ability to operate Inventory and POS systems and related retail software.
• Effective communication skills with the store leadership team, associates, and customers.
• Use judgment to identify and resolve day-to-day operational problems.

As a Retail Supervisor, you will be a member of the Store Leadership Team and assists the Store Manager in the effective operation of the store. The supervisor is responsible for providing leadership and direction to diverse associate level team members in the assigned area of responsibility. You will provide sales floor leadership to drive sales and ensure associates engage consumers to provide a personalized shopping experience.

How You’ll Make a Difference

• Provides training and in-the-moment coaching to ensure associates engage consumers, make product recommendations, and leverage product knowledge to influence buying decisions. Ensures associates connect consumers to company loyalty programs and solicit feedback through consumer surveys.
• Supports store leadership in the execution of merchandising directives; ensures timely replenishment of the sales floor and maintains high store standards for product presentation and store cleanliness.
• Supervises and overseas assigned department of responsibility. Drives department sales through deep understanding of consumer needs, product training, visual merchandising, and communication of product needs and challenges with store leadership.
• Collaborates with store leadership team to ensure accurate execution of procedures and compliance with company policies. Works to resolve any problems or errors.
• Creates and maintains a store culture of teamwork; leads by example to high professional standards and demonstrates Columbia Sportswear Company values.

YOU HAVE

• No specific education required (High School Diploma or GED preferred)
• 2-5 years of experience in position or specialization
• Skill operating Inventory and Point of Sales (POS) systems, and various other retail software tools.
• Ability to use judgment to identify and resolve day-to-day technical and operational problems.
• Effective communication skills; able to exchange ideas and information with the store leadership team, associates, and consumers.

JOB CONDITIONS

• Frequently in a more active environment (i.e., requires the ability to constantly move about) that can be physical or strenuous (frequently adjusting/moving items weighing up to 40 lbs.). They may frequently use specialized equipment and may have exposure to dust and noise.
• Occasionally it requires the ability to work in place.
• Ability to communicate clearly with others.
• Availability to work a flexible retail schedule, which may change seasonally and in response to location-specific business trends or forecasts. All local, state, and federal laws are adhered to when evaluating your availability.
