Job summary

Tailored Brands, Inc. in Edison, NJ, is seeking an experienced tailor/alterations technician to perform a range of garment alterations in line with store standards.

You will operate sewing machines, needles, scissors, and presses to deliver high-quality finishes, while tagging and organizing finished garments for customer pickup and assisting with inventory. Responsibilities

• Perform standard alterations – including pant hems, waist and seat adjustments, rise and tapering modifications, coat sleeves, side seams, and lower collar adjustments – in alignment with company guidelines.
• Maintain an average of 60 minutes of productive alteration work per working hour, allowing for appropriate rest and meal periods and time for non‑tailoring tasks as needed.
• Ensure all garments meet high‑quality standards, including clean finishes, secure stitching, even seams, and the removal of loose threads and pins.
• Press garments to ensure a clean crisp finish.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient workspace; ensure all tools and materials are properly stored and well‑maintained.
• Demonstrate proficiency with all tailor shop equipment.
• Ensure completed work is accurately tagged, organized, and ready for customer pickup.
• Assist with inventory management by monitoring tailoring supplies and requesting replenishment from management as needed.
• Support front‑of‑house activities such as cleaning, restocking merchandise, or assisting customers.
• Participate in customer consultations at the direction of management, offering guidance and recommendations on alterations and garment fit.
• Deliver an exceptional customer experience by listening to customer needs and offering personalized solutions.
