Retail Store Manager
Location: Woodmere, Ohio
Reports To: Director
Status: Full-Time
Malley's Chocolates is seeking an experienced and dynamic Retail Store Manager to lead and inspire a high-performing team while delivering exceptional customer experiences and achieving strong business results. Key Responsibilities
Inspirational Leadership
- Lead by example with integrity, professionalism, and a commitment to Malley's values.
- Inspire and motivate team members through consistent coaching, feedback, and recognition.
- Foster a positive and inclusive workplace that encourages initiative, teamwork, and accountability.
- Clearly communicate store objectives and align the team with broader company goals.
- Mentor and develop associates and assistant managers to build a strong internal talent pipeline.
- Represent the store in community engagement efforts to enhance local presence and customer loyalty.
Quality of WorkCustomer and Associate Interactions
- Demonstrate and model excellent customer service at all times.
- Promote a culture of empathy, attentiveness, and prompt service resolution.
- Build strong relationships with customers and associates to ensure a welcoming store environment.
Store Presentation
- Ensure the store is consistently clean, well-stocked, and visually aligned with merchandising standards.
- Take initiative to identify and correct any presentation issues.
Team Performance
- Set clear performance expectations and hold team members accountable for results.
- Deliver timely coaching and performance development conversations to support individual growth.
Operational Knowledge
- Maintain in-depth knowledge of store policies, product lines, and procedures.
- Train and guide associates and assistant managers to ensure operational consistency and product expertise.
- Ensure compliance with all company, safety, and sanitation policies.
Results-Driven Focus
- Analyze store performance using sales reports and data tools to identify growth opportunities.
- Lead the team in achieving sales targets through effective merchandising, customer engagement, and upselling strategies.
- Support company-wide initiatives by executing seasonal programs and promotions with excellence.
Operational Excellence
- Manage store inventory, applying FIFO (First In, First Out) methods to minimize waste and maintain product freshness.
- Oversee accurate cash handling, register balancing, and daily bank deposits.
- Leverage in-store systems and technology to streamline store operations and improve efficiency.
- Respond promptly to technical or operational issues to maintain service continuity.
Autonomy and Initiative
- Operate the store with a high level of independence while upholding company standards.
- Take ownership of problem-solving and decision-making to improve store performance.
- Empower team members to take responsibility for their roles and drive outcomes.
Adaptability and Continuous Improvement
- Embrace change and adapt to evolving systems, tools, and customer needs.
- Encourage a culture of learning, experimentation, and continuous improvement.
- Contribute to process enhancements and share insights to improve customer satisfaction and store operations.
Qualifications
- 3–5 years of retail management experience preferred, but not required.
- Proven ability to lead, coach, and develop high-performing teams.
- Track record of meeting or exceeding sales and operational goals.
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with POS and retail management systems.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
