Job summary

Benchmade Knife Company is seeking a Part-time Retail Store Associate to deliver excellent customer service in our onsite Oregon City store. You will handle merchandise, process transactions, and provide product knowledge to customers to help them select the right knives and accessories.

This role requires 1-2 years of customer service experience, a positive attitude, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced retail environment.

This role works with direct salesmanship, and prompt and courteous service; completing transactions in a quick and efficient manner, minimizing delays to customers; developing thorough knowledge of all merchandize carried by Benchmade in the stores, catalogs and websites offering selection guidance to customers. This position will perform all other responsibilities as directed by the business or as assignment by management.This position is a part-time role. Because the role supports operations during peak weekend periods, availability on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday is required.ResponsibilitiesPerforms all functions relating to the handling of merchandize or cash in accordance with corporate policy in a timely and customer friendly mannerAdministers all point of sale opening and closing procedures in accordance with corporate policyResolves all customer complaints in a manner consistent with company policy, and with customer satisfaction in mindResolve customer questions and concerns in a positive, helpful manner.Participate regularly in product knowledge training and be able to communicate features and benefits to all customersBe an accountable face of the company to assist in meeting sales goals.Assist in maintaining a well-stocked and neat store appearanceEnsures that all customers receive a receipts on all purchasesWork as part of a team and contributes to the overall display and presentation efforts within the store environment, including stocking, replenishing merchandise, following visual merchandise guidelines, and general store housing keeping duties as assignedParticipate in physical inventory counts as required.QualificationsA High School Diploma or GED equivalent, and 1-2 years of experience in a customer service role is required. Equivalency to the qualification standard will also be considered.Positive attitude and customer service friendly with a passion for excellence is required.Experience with cash handling is preferredSolid communications skills with a demonstrated ability to speak read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and policy documents as well as converse professionally with all customers.Handle money, refunds and exchanges with a high level of accuracy at the registerQuickly and accurately place orders for knives and collect payment; provide receipt for all transactionsAbility to multi-task and prioritize projectsLearn new technologies as they become availableCross train and work in other areas of store/company as neededWorking ConditionsWorking Environment: Office PositionPhysical Demands: Lifting up to 50 lbs., standing and talking on the phone for long periods of time.Travel Requirements: As needed, less than 5% of the time.
