Job summary

MERS Missouri Goodwill is seeking a Retail Shift Supervisor for the Poplar Bluff store (Westwood team). The role supports mission-based work and leads staff to provide excellent donor and customer services.

Hourly full-time position with a starting rate of $19.50 per hour and a monthly bonus potential up to $500. Full-time benefits include medical, dental, vision, life and AD&D, and retirement plans. Flexible schedules and paid holidays are offered.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED preferred (no degree required).
• 1 year retail management or Goodwill retail/warehouse experience required.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Leadership and decision-making abilities.
• Experience with registers, scheduling, and inventory software.

Responsibilities

• Supervise, direct, and train staff and ensure essential functions are performed.
• Provide superior customer service to ensure donor/shopper retention and resolve issues.
• Coach employees on performance, including discipline when needed.
• Assign daily duties to achieve operational tasks.
• Identify employees for advancement based on performance.
• Safeguard company property and report any misconduct or theft.
• Read and enforce all agency policies and values.
• Coordinate staffing and payroll; arrange replacements as needed.
• Improve processes to reduce waste and improve efficiency.
• Maintain professional appearance and dress code compliance.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• No degree is required. High School Diploma/GED preferred.
• 1 year of retail management experience or previous Goodwill Retail or Warehouse experience is required.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including customer service, conflict resolution, and teamwork.
• Leadership skills like decision-making, motivation, goal-setting, and strong problem-solving skills.
• Comfortable with workplace technology like registers, scheduling, and inventory management software.

Primary Duties/Responsibilities

• Supervise, direct, and train assigned staff and ensure they perform their essential/primary functions.
• Provide superior internal and external customer service to ensure repeat donors, shoppers, and staff retention and de-escalate customer dissatisfaction quickly and effectively.
• Coach and counsel employees concerning the performance of their job duties, including discipline up to and including termination.
• Exercise independent judgment in assigning daily job duties to achieve daily operational tasks.
• Helps to identify and recommend employees with proven performance for advancement.
• Safeguards company property and personal information from harm, damage, or theft. Reports any theft, misappropriation, unethical/inappropriate behavior, or unauthorized possession of company property to a member of management, Human Resources, or Risk Management.
• Must read, follow, model, and enforce all agency policies, procedures, and values.
• Utilizes efficient staffing methods to ensure the store is staffed appropriately. Arranges for replacements of absent employees when necessary. Audits, edits, and approves payroll.
• Eliminates wasteful practices through process improvement.
• Maintains a professional appearance, adhering to MERS Goodwill's dress code.
• Other duties as assigned.
• Monthly Bonus up to $500.00
• Individual and family medical benefits for full-time employees working 30 or more hours per week.
