MERS Missouri Goodwill Industries seeks a Retail Shift Supervisor for the Kansas City Store - E 63rd to support operations and leadership in a mission-driven environment.

Qualifications

• No degree required; HS diploma/GED preferred.
• 1 year of retail management experience or related Goodwill/warehouse exposure.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including conflict resolution.
• Leadership skills: decision-making, motivation, goal-setting, problem solving.
• Comfort with registers, scheduling, and inventory management software.

Responsibilities

• Supervise, direct, and train staff to perform primary duties.
• Provide exceptional customer service to shoppers and donors to foster retention.
• Coach employees on performance, including discipline when needed.
• Assign daily tasks and ensure achievement of operational goals.
• Identify high performers for advancement and manage payroll activities.
• Protect company property and report any policy violations or theft.
• Model and enforce agency policies and values.
• Organize staffing to keep the store adequately staffed and schedule replacements.
• Identify efficiencies and reduce waste through process improvements.
• Maintain professional appearance per MERS Goodwill dress code.
• Support monthly bonus program and benefits administration.

Qualifications

• No degree is required. High School Diploma/GED preferred.
• 1 year of retail management experience or previous Goodwill Retail or Warehouse experience is required.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including customer service, conflict resolution, and teamwork.

Primary Duties/Responsibilities

• Supervise, direct, and train assigned staff and ensure they perform their essential/primary functions.
• Provide superior internal and external customer service to ensure repeat donors, shoppers, and staff retention and de-escalate customer dissatisfaction quickly and effectively.
• Coach and counsel employees concerning the performance of their job duties, including discipline up to and including termination.
• Exercise independent judgment in assigning daily job duties to achieve daily operational tasks.
• Helps to identify and recommend employees with proven performance for advancement.
• Safeguards company property and personal information from harm, damage, or theft. Reports any theft, misappropriation, unethical/inappropriate behavior, or unauthorized possession of company property to a member of management, Human Resources, or Risk Management.
• Must read, follow, model, and enforce all agency policies, procedures, and values.
• Utilizes efficient staffing methods to ensure the store is staffed appropriately. Arranges for replacements of absent employees when necessary. Audits, edits, and approves payroll.
• Eliminates wasteful practices through process improvement.
• Maintains a professional appearance, adhering to MERS Goodwill’s dress code.
• Other duties as assigned.
• Monthly Bonus up to $500.00
• Individual and family medical benefits for full-time employees working 30 or more hours per week.
